Die Verbreitung des Dunklen Tigerpythons reicht von Nordost-Indien, Nepal, West-Bhutan, Südost-Bangladeschcite-ref-o-sheanepal-14-1[14] über Burma, Thailand, Kambodscha, Laos, dem nördlichen Teil der Malaiischen Halbinsel, Vietnam bis Südchina inklusive Hainan und einer nördlichen, isolierten Population im Sichuan-Becken. Weiter südlich fehlt er im Süden der Malaiischen Halbinsel und auf den Inseln Borneo und Sumatra. Erst anschließend an diese markante Verbreitungslücke erstreckt sich sein Vorkommen auf die Insel Java, den Südwesten Sulawesis (Sulawesi Selatan) und die kleinen Sunda-Inseln Bali und Sumbawa.cite-ref-barker-8-2[8]
